On Thursday, August 14th, Discovery Students will be taking a day trip to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio!
Students will meet at Discovery Church at 7 am and arrive back at 11 pm.
The trip will cost $100 and includes the following:
charter bus transportation
park admission ticket
all day food and drink pass*
*The all day food and drink passes are only to be used at park food stands; independent stands such as Subway and Starbucks do not accept these passes. The meal pass can be used once every 90 minutes and drink refills can be used every 15 minutes.
Adult chaperones are needed and can sign up using this registration as well!
If you have a blue shirt from the trip last year, please wear it. While supplies last, we will give shirts to newbies too. Wear a blue shirt or tank top regardless, please!
The addition of the food and drink pass eliminates the need for students to bring cash on the trip. If they choose to, however, please note that Cedar Point is now cashless. This means that money to be used for souvenirs or independent food stands must be transferred to a park debit card. Read more about that here: https://www.cedarpoint.com/cashless
Everyone's a winner on draft night! Compete in one of our fantasy leagues, so you have more ways to trash-talk at church. Win your own league for a prize or win the whole thing through our multi-league playoff bracket for an even better prize. In addition, all winners get bragging rights.
Registration is required by the end of the day on 8/24.
READ THIS!
Draft STARTS at 6:30 pm, so come at 6 pm to get your draft guides and magazines in laid out.
$20 covers the cost of wings/pizza,(probably not enough for dinner) & prizes.
BYOB responsibly.
Rules for 2025
Standard ESPN PPR rules & team construction (but the Commissioner of Commissioners reserves the right to modify team constructions according to/his or her whims).
Except, no kickers.
Only one Aaron Rodgers per league (sorry yinzers)
We hope for 12-team leagues, but that depends on numbers
Leagues will be set by the Commissioner of Commissioners, but you can request league mates. They won't necessarily be structured based on skill.
You will need a device to draft with the ESPN fantasy app and a connected account
You can draft remotely, but that doesn't change the $20 buy-in.

Check out this Amazon Wishlist and donate a few items before the event. Every contribution, big or small, helps show these families they’re not alone. Then during the Block Party, join us for one of the available activities - packing all the donations into gift boxes to spread love to families who could use a little extra care.
You can also bring pull tabs from soda cans to the Start Here desk any weekend in August (or to the Block Party). Ronald McDonald House recycles them and it generates thousands of dollars for t
One of the most meaningful days of the year is almost here—the Annual Women’s Summit! For this year’s retreat, we’re switching things up with a one-day experience right here at Discovery.
Life moves fast, and it’s easy to run on empty. The Women’s Summit offers space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with God and each other. Whether you’re feeling stuck, spiritually dry, or just in need of encouragement, this is a day you won’t want to miss. So ask yourself - “do I need a refresh?” If the answer is yes, mark your calendar and make plans to come. ALL women are welcome! Invite your mom, sister, neighbors, and friends.
P.S. If you or a friend is hesitant to sign up due to funds, please contact Katrina (Community Pastor) at khrydil@discoverypgh.com to receive a scholarship option.

The Nation's largest Christian preteen event is coming back to Pittsburgh!
SuperStart is a high-energy, intentionally crafted weekend event for preteens (4th-6th Grade) to hear the gospel, learn Biblical truths, and be called to a life of Kingdom work.
This year, students will explore the incredible truth that our lives are molded by the choices we make, the people we surround ourselves with, and, most importantly, by the hands of God.
Your preteens will learn how to evaluate the different influences in
their lives and lean into God’s Shaping process, allowing Him to mold their hearts and minds for the work He has planned for them.
This is a much-anticipated event for Discovery Kids preteens! Besides the conference itself, we will be having a lock-in Friday Night into Saturday morning and close out our time together Saturday afternoon by having some fun. All activities, food, and transportation are included in the price.
This prestigious invitational has been an enduring staple of Irish-based holidays & Discovery Students since its introduction in March of 2024.
Please bring athletic attire, a team of friends, a competitive spirit, & individually packaged nut-free snacks expiring after 8/2/25 to donate to Urban Impact.
Team Sign-ups will take place when you arrive. There is a maximum of five players on the court to start for each team. You’ll have the chance to win glory, honor, and prizes.

We live in an economy and culture that runs on our attention. So this winter, we're going to escape to reset and grow our capacity to focus on the right things at the right times. 24 hours or so of stepping away from our everyday rhythms and responsibilities. It's like we're Jesus in the wilderness, a monk in a monastery, or an athlete on a dark retreat. It's a short, intentional time with a meaningful impact.
We'll hang out, play all kinds of stuff (gaga ball, indoor rock climbing, hiking/sled riding, etc.), sing together, and have meaningful conversations.
Things to know:
Since it's close, please arrange your own transportation. We can help if you need it, though! Drop off at 6:30-7:30 pm on 1/24. Pick up at 8:00-9:00 pm on 1/25.
Price includes three meals on Saturday, one night in the lodge, and the cost for leaders.

What does physical wellness look like? Both for us physically and spiritually as the body of Christ?
God created each of us to be unique and to serve a particular purpose.
This year at adventure camp, we will build on what we discussed during our May One-Day Event and have a fun time exploring what it means to be part of the body of Christ and how we are called to take care of our physical bodies. We will explore topics like nutrition, fitness, and rest in fun and creative ways.
By the end of the week, the campers will learn that they were beautifully and wonderfully made for a purpose and that by taking care of their physical bodies, they can be healthier members of God's heavenly body.
Dinner will be provided to kids and volunteers each night. A menu will be sent out in the weeks before the event. Don’t forget to invite a friend!
Jesus said there are two types of people (see Matthew 7:13-14 NIV). The majority of people follow the crowd and end up living mediocre lives. However, there are a few who choose to follow him … but it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s a path of eternal adventure and a commitment to giving your life to something much larger than yourself. It’s not easy, but it is so worth it!
Taught by our Lead Pastor, Matt Mehaffey, this hour-long workshop will help open your eyes to the path before you and prepare you for the journey ahead.
