Pixar, Week 1 - Toy Story

Toy Story

Starter Question

When you were a kid, did you have a favorite toy you would hardly ever go anywhere without? What was it? Why do you think it meant so much to you?

Message Questions

Can you remember a moment when you felt most valued or what kinds of things make you feel valued?

In what situations do you tend to compare yourself to others?

Read John 13:23 then look over the general content of that entire chapter. Based on what you notice and read, what does it mean to let Jesus define the central focus of your identity?

How would you typically define your purpose on this planet?

Read Ephesians 1:3-8 & 2:9-10. Do you tend to believe that God really enjoys you? Why or why not?

Based on these passages, how could you refine or redefine your purpose?

Challenge

Read Psalm 90:14-17. Describe what this psalm suggests about satisfaction and success.

What’s something you can do this week to daily stabilize your identity as “the one Jesus loved?” How might that affect the way you approach everything else in this world?

Closing Prayer

King of the Universe and our loving Father,

I am the disciple that Jesus loves. We are the disciples that Jesus loves.

When you audibly spoke to Jesus you repeated the same message: He is your son and he brings you great joy.

We know you’re trying to get that message across to us too who are “in Jesus:” we are your kids and we bring you great joy.

Help us to hear that message, know that message, and truly believe that message so we can live delighted and satisfied in you.

You are the provider of all we need, especially our sense self-worth.

From that place of stability, teach us to live our lives well.

We are your masterpiece and you have good and beautiful things for us to do.

Through Jesus’ example, teachings, death, and resurrection especially we can see just how much you cherish us.

Amen
