Message Questions

Read Jonah 4

As we wrap up our time in Jonah, we see Jonah go from a hero to complaining to God about going to save the Ninevites.

  • Have you ever gotten frustrated with something God asked you to do even if it meant serving or saving others?

  • In studying Jonah’s story, what is one thing that you have learned about listening to God’s voice?

Look closely at verses 5-8…

These few verses show us the imagery of God sprouting up a leafy plant to grow over Jonah as shade, but God also arranged for a worm to destroy the plant. This example teaches us something very important about the heart of God towards those He loves.

  • What is Jonah’s reaction to the plant growing & being destroyed? Pay attention to how he shares his grievances with the Lord.

  • How does God’s response to Jonah in verses 10 & 11 teach us how God has a deep desire in His heart to seek & save the lost?

  • What does it mean to you that God wants to give us His heart?

Weekly Challenge

Take time this week to reflect on how God is calling you to become more like Him. Maybe that is stepping out of your comfort zone to love and serve others. Or maybe it’s taking steps to spend more time with God so your heart is in tune with His. It could even mean you forgive someone that has hurt you so you can model a heart of true forgiveness.

Prayer

Pray together as a group asking that we would all have a heart that looks more and more like Jesus. That we would seek the mission of God over our own opinions and agenda’s. Also continue to pray over the one’s & friends coming this Sunday to ‘Bring a Friend’ Sunday, that they would feel welcomed & impacted by the Good News of Jesus.

Weekly Reminders

  1. Bring a Friend Sunday is this Sunday!

  2. If you are on a serving team, make sure to come to our “Dream Team” Leader Huddle on Saturday November 11th at 9am
