No Ordinary Family
Our culture loves to tell us what an “ordinary” family looks like. It usually looks like homes where everyone is annoyed with each other, the dinner table is vacant, skeletons are buried in closets, financial debt is crushing, and marriages have either flat-lined or are terminally ill. God doesn’t call us to be ordinary. He is the designer of marriage and family and He has a better way for us. In our series “No Ordinary Family” we will be looking at the first families in the book of Genesis. Don’t worry they are full of dysfunction too! But with God in the midst He can do amazing things in and through our families.

Marriage and relationship are God’s plan but our rebellion tarnished the intimacy and unity that God intended between Him and each other. That didn’t stop God though. He promised us redemption and followed through with that promise at the cost of His Son, Jesus. We will look at practical advice for marriage including seeking God together, fighting fair, having fun, staying pure, and never giving up.

Noah, despite living in a chaotic world, remained righteous and obeyed God. We need to stay near God, trust His promises, and avoid coping mechanisms like alcohol and anger. Honoring our parents is a key commandment from God that actually leads to healthy living and life-giving family dynamics.

Matt & Janie Mehaffey share their own personal experiences alongside Biblical advice while navigating marriage for nearly 20 years.

God invites us to step out in faith and embark on an adventure with Him, just as He did with Abraham. Instead of passively consuming the adventures of others, we are called to trust God, believe His promises, and take action.

We often take shortcuts when waiting on God’s promises, leading to unnecessary stress, brokenness, and consequences. Instead of trying to control outcomes, we must trust God’s perfect timing, submit to Him, and live by faith.

What are things in your life that you aren't willing to sacrifice? A sacrifice, is an act of giving up something of significant value for something of even greater value.
